Professor Tomasz Gackowski takes part in the IAMCR (The International Association for Media and Communication Research) conference in Madrid. IAMCR conferences address a wide diversity of topics. For IAMCR 2019, the central theme is Communication, Technology, and Human Dignity: Disputed Rights, Contested Truths.

Professor Tomasz Gackowski on the first day of conference presented a paper titled: „Trump Metaphorized. Metaphors of 45th president of the United States in the Polish press at the beginning of his presidency” in section about Politcal Communication Research.



The 2019 IAMCR Conference focuses around the role of communication in fulfilling the Preamble of the Paris Declaration (UN, 1948), which states that “recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world”. This congress will feature analysis of the impact of the latest communication technologies on culture, human rights and social issues in the context of the so-called Post-truth era.

Among the academicians and researchers from around the world, there were such professors as: Nick Couldry and Sonia Livingstone from the LSE, Mark Deuze and Claes de Vreese from the University of Amsterdam, Gerard Goggin from the University of Sydney and Caja Thimm from the Univeristy of Bonn.

The 2019 IAMCR Conference runs from July 7 to July 11, 2019.
