{nomultithumb}October has been full of wonderful events. One of them was the grand celebration of the science of social communication and media, the 6th edition of the „Knowledge, Communication, Action” conference. This year, the event was even more significant as the Jagiellonian University Institute of Journalism, Media, and Social Communication celebrated its 25th anniversary!
We were delighted to have a large presence in Krakow, with six members of our team presenting their papers.
Tomasz Gackowski participated in the opening panel discussion, "In pursuit of competencies: (Re)defining citizenship in the age of algorithmic media," and also delivered a presentation titled "Poles on the European Union in the media before the European Parliament elections in June 2024: A comparative study.”
Jacek Wasilewski, during the session entitled "Media professions: Ethics - Dilemmas - Challenges. On the state of journalism and the journalist's profession," discussed the very current issue of "Why we trust entertainment journalism more: Problems with trust in the media worldwide.”
During the second session, themed "Media environment; Technologies - Information Management - Monitoring," the following papers were presented:
- Adam Balcerzak ("Does remote biometric research make sense? A case study of biometric research on technology company advertisements during the COVID-19 pandemic")
- Karolina Brylska ("Between fantasy and reality - perception of Virtual Reality by users of the VRChat application")
- Dominika Stawicka ("Broadcasts of EURO 2024 and the Paris Olympic Games from the perspective of different distribution models in Poland and selected European countries")
In the session "Through the eyes of young researchers," Grzegorz Kowalczyk actively participated, discussing "FAKE NEWS" through the eyes of politicians. Disinformation as a label in the presidential election campaign."
