The implementation of this activity will ensure the promotion of the results of scientific research carried out by employees of the University of Warsaw. The projects will include, among other things, the organisation of specially-prepared lectures, lessons, and presentations addressed to various social groups, and the preparation of information in Polish and English on the scientific achievements of University of Warsaw employees, which will then be posted on popular scientific portals. There will also be a promotional campaign in the form of interviews and announcements, released in the Polish press and also published in English. It will be possible to obtain funds to organise thematic scientific conferences with the participation of foreign guests, dedicated to presenting the scientific achievements of outstanding researchers from the University of Warsaw.

Objective

The objective of the call is to select research projects whose popularisation will lead to the increased visibility of the University of Warsaw, its employees, and its ongoing scientific enquiries.

The competition will contribute to the reaching the objective of III.3 in the IDUB Programme – “Implementation of a system for enhancing the inflow and development of talented youth”.

Applicants

  1. An application to the competition may be submitted:

    1. individually, by an employee or doctoral candidate;

    2. by a research team

  2. — that obtained results in scientific research 2019-2021.

  3. The coordinator or manager of research may apply in the name of an entire research team.

Anticipated outcomes

The outcome of the projects which are completed as part of this call will include relaying information about the results of scientific work carried out at the University of Warsaw to those beyond the narrow academic audience, who are interested in research.

 

 Period of financing and settlement

  1. The implementation of the project is subject to financial and substantive settlement.

  2. The applicant has 9 months to settle the project, counting from the date of receiving the co-financing.

  3. When settling the project, the applicant will submit the following documents:

    1. a substative summary of the completion of the project, including: summary of tasks carried out, specification of results achieved, description of difficulties encountered;

    2. a summary of the expenditures – a printout from SAP with itemised costs which account for the co-financing.

Competition schedule

  1. Applications will be accepted from 01.02.2021 to 15.03.2021.

  2. Applications submitted before or after the set dates of the competition will not be considered.

  3. The results of the competition will be announced by 31.03.2021.

Amount of funding

  1. The maximum amount of co-financing from IDUB funds is 15,000 PLN for one project.

  2. Contributions by the researcher(s) are allowed.

  3. The budget of the project must be verified and confirmed by submitting a cost estimate which has been prepared, for example, by a magazine, publishing house, website, or organiser of a promotional event.

  4. The total budget of the competition is 100,000 PLN.

 Evaluation

  1. The Selection Committee will create a ranked list of the projects which have been chosen for funding.

  2. The decision to grant funding is made by the Programme Manager, upon the proposal of the Coordinator of the Action, and based on the recommendation by the Selection Committee.

  3. In the event of resignation or other unforeseen events which prevent the realisation of a project that has been qualified for co-financing – and which has been reported by the applicant within 7 days of being awarded co-financing – the University of Warsaw reserves the right to award co-financing to the project in the next position on the ranked list.

  4. The list of projects (including the scientific degree, the name and organisational unit of the applicant, and the title and amount of project funding) which have been chosen to receive funding will be published on the IDUB website.

  5. The applicant will be notified about the decision to grant funding, as will the Head of the organisational unit where the project is to be carried out.

Additional information

  1. The Selection Committee will close the competition procedure in the event that:

    1. no applications meeting the formal conditions of the competition have been received; or

    2. no applications have been recommended by the Selection Committee for co-financing, due to insufficient point totals (fewer than the minimum) received at that stage of evaluation.

  2. In justified cases, the Programme Manager reserves the right to cancel the competition without stating the reason. Information about the cancellation of the competition will be posted on the IDUB website.
