During the 4th "Science for Society" Congress, representatives of the Laboratory of Media Studies at the University of Warsaw (LBM UW) presented the talk "FPV Drone Simulator in VR: Measuring Operators' Stress Responses (GSR)". The presentation was delivered by Prof. Tomasz Gackowski, Marcin Łączyński, and Adam Balcerzak.
The presentation discussed the results of one of the research projects carried out by LBM UW in collaboration with cadets from the Académie militaire de Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan. The study focused on the biometric analysis of FPV drone operators in a VR environment, with particular emphasis on stress levels measured using Galvanic Skin Response (GSR). The project also incorporated eye tracking, logging of task-related events, and a dedicated application developed in Unreal Engine 5 and integrated with the iMotions platform.
A recording of the presentation is available here.
We would like to thank all participants for their interest in the application of biometrics and VR technologies in research on the performance of unmanned systems operators.
