The War in Ukraine in the Opinion of Poles – CATI Survey Report
The war in Ukraine has caused Poles to share fears about their future – show the results of CATI Survey conducted by Laboratory of Media Studies of the University of Warsaw.
The survey, conducted by the Media Studies Laboratory team, is an interesting illustration of the opinions of Polish women and men on how the Russian-Ukrainian war looks as seen through the windows of their homes and the screens of their smartphones – says dr Karolina Brylska (University of Warsaw, Laboratory of Media Studies deputy director)
After two years of fighting a pandemic, during a period of great uncertainty, it seems that the war in Ukraine might be seen as the straw that broke the camel's back; in the coming months this may cause many breakthroughs and reevaluations, in social, economic, and political life – states prof. Wyniki Konkursu stypendialnego w ramach Działania II.3.4 „Grywalizacja światów w służbie nowoczesnemu społeczeństwu XXI wieku” realizowanego z Programu „Inicjatywa Doskonałości – Uczelnia Badawcza”
{nomultithumb}Celem Stypendium jest włączenie studentów i doktorantów, których zainteresowania naukowe związane są tematycznie z Działaniem II.3.4., w realizację projektów badawczych w Działaniu oraz stworzenie lepszych warunków ich rozwoju naukowego.
Laureatem Konkursu stypendialnego „Grywalizacja światów w służbie nowoczesnemu społeczeństwu XXI wieku” został Pan mgr Filip Wójcik, doktorant Szkoły Doktorskiej Nauk Społecznych, Dziedzina nauk społecznych, nauki o zarządzaniu i jakości. Laureat uzyskał najwyższą liczbę punktów w postępowaniu konkursowym.

Prof. Tomasz Gackowski w Radzie CBOS
{nomultithumb}Dr hab. prof. UW Tomasz Gackowski został w dn. 22 czerwca 2022 r. powołany w skład Rady Fundacji Centrum Badania Opinii Społecznej. Kandydaturę zgłosiły Władze Wydziału Dziennikarstwa, Informacji i Bibliologii UW, a powołania dokonał Prezes Rady Ministrów.
Rada CBOS działa od 1997 r., kiedy to Sejm RP specjalną ustawą nadał Centrum status niezależnej fundacji i powierzył zadanie prowadzenia badań społecznych na użytek publiczny. Rada CBOS czuwa nad jakością prac badawczych i planami badań instytucji. W jej skład wchodzą specjaliści z siedmiu instytucji akademickich oraz przedstawiciele Sejmu, Senatu, Prezydenta RP i Premiera.
LBM workshop at an international conference on virtual reality
{nomultithumb}On March 12, 2022, the Laboratory of Media Studies of the University of Warsaw held the workshop on virtual reality entitled Metaverse as a promise of a bright future? - social interactions in a world of isolation. The workshop was an integral part of the 29th IEEE Conference on Virtual Reality + 3D User Interfaces, which took place on March 12-16 this year in the remote formula (although initially a hybrid event was planned, held in Christchurch, New Zealand). The conference is organized periodically by the most significant scientific association of this type named IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), bringing together specialists in electronics, computer and information engineering, electrical engineering and related fields. The workshops carried out by LMS UW (and others accompanying the conference) were selected through a competition. Forty-five participants from several dozen academic centres worldwide took part in the LMS event.
