How does simple language build accessibility, safety, and trust?
In July 2026, "Poradnik Językowy" (Volume 834, No. 5 2026) published a report by a team of researchers led by Dr. Jacek Wasilewski.
The team examined how simple and understandable language affects the perception of texts by neuroatypical and neurotypical individuals.
We have concluded another fruitful meeting within the project “Artificial Intelligence and Society - A Comparative Study. Opportunities, Threats, Attitudes and Practices of Media Users in Germany and Poland”, carried out in cooperation with the team of Professor Caja Thimm from the University of Bonn.
We discussed the latest batch of collected data. Karolina Brylska presented an analysis of media content on AI, Marlena Sztyber-Popko shared the results of a survey conducted among Polish users of genAI tools, and Anna Mierzecka presented insights from in-depth interviews with experts. We have also planned the structure of the post-project monograph and the scope of our joint presentation at this year’s ECREA conference in Brno.
The project is funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange and DAAD.
We are pleased to announce that Prof. Tomasz Gackowski, Head of the Laboratory of Media Studies at the University of Warsaw (LBM UW), will speak at the 26th Public Relations Congress, which will take place on 24–25 September 2026 in Rzeszów, Poland. As part of the event, he will deliver a presentation entitled: “Polarized Media – On the Sources of Disinformation in the Age of Post-Truth”.
Marcin Łączyński, representing the Laboratory of Media Studies at the University of Warsaw (LBM UW), together with Radosław Wałkuski from the Dobrze Myślisz! initiative, conducted a workshop entitled “False or True? How to Recognize Disinformation Online” during Fake News Festival 2026, held on June 18–20 in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany.
During the interactive session, participants took on the role of “truth detectives,” analyzing real-world online content, including photographs, headlines, social media posts, and short videos. Working in small teams, they assessed whether the presented information was accurate, manipulated, or potentially misleading.
The workshop was designed for school students and focused on practical methods of identifying disinformation and critically evaluating online content.
