LBM attended Congress 590
LBM took part in Congress 590, which was held in Warsaw on October 5-6, 2021. This event is one of the key economic events in the country and will focus on seven thematic areas. These are: a new state, new sectors, demography, health, science along with the research and development sector, and a new image of Poland.
The important element of the congress was the panel "Esport. One of the driving forces of the digital economy in the 21st century". The speakers of the panel were Paweł Kowalczyk (President of the Management Board of the Polish Esports League), Maciej Kasprzak (Director of the Online Games Department, Totalizator Sportowy Sp z o.o.) and Zbigniew Kajdanowski (Deputy Director of the Corporate Communication and Marketing Department of PGE S.A.). During the panel, sports journalist Przemysław Iwanieczyk said that eSport will be at the Olympics, he believes it because there is no other way with such great popularity.
We would like to remind you that the topic of eSports is particularly close to us, we conducted a biometric study "FIFA 18 players - how do they feel and what do they see?", In which our researchers analyze how people playing video games (in this case FIFA 18 ) respond to this type of stimulus at the physiological level.
Two representatives of LBM participated in the international conference IAMCR 2021
Between 11 and 15 of July 2021, the prestigious IAMCR international conference took place under the theme "Rethinking borders and boundaries: Beyond the global/local dichotomy in communication studies". Due to the pandemic, this year's conference was held remotely, which gave participants from all over the world a chance to share observations and conclusions from their research. Two researchers from the Laboratory of Media Studies attended the event, dr Karolina Brylska and prof. Tomasz Gackowski.
Dr Karolina Brylska received a grant for the project "Rhetoric of experts. Persuasiveness of media messages of medics during the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland"
Dr Karolina Brylska received a grant for the project "Rhetoric of experts. Persuasiveness of media messages of medics during the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland" in the New Ideas competition of the “Excellence Initiative - Research University”. The study will be conducted in collaboration with the Laboratory of Media Studies team.
The The project aims to find an empirically verified formula for persuasively effective statements by experts in social media during the global health crisis. Scientists and medics are the crucial pillar of the fight against the pandemic, not only in the diagnostic and therapeutic but also in educational terms. On the other hand, the Internet is an essential source of knowledge for citizens about the pandemic. That is why the messages created by experts in social media are crucial for the effective fight against the pandemic in the informational dimension and should be effective in persuasion. The project is therefore vital for science and society.
