On May 21–22, 2026, the conference “Education in the Face of Disinformation. Social Insurance in a Crisis of Trust” will take place, organized jointly by the Polish Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) and the Krakow University of Economics.
Among the speakers will also be the head of the Laboratory of Media Studies at the University of Warsaw (LBM UW) – Tomasz Gackowski, who will deliver a presentation titled: “Images of ZUS in the Era of Post-Truth and Disinformation”.
What happened to the Hundred Acre Wood after one hundred years?
And what do droughts, floods, disappearing bees, and… our everyday decisions have to do with it?
We highly recommend this remarkable book created by a member of LBM UW together with Piotr Welek. “The Hundred Acre Wood After One Hundred Years” is a story for both younger and older readers about climate change, agency, and how local actions can make a difference.
Why do even well-informed parents sometimes have doubts about vaccinating their children?
Whom do they trust, and how do they make health-related decisions in the age of disinformation?
We recommend a new article published on the University of Warsaw Science News Service, based on research conducted by members of the LBM at the University of Warsaw - Anna Mierzecka and Marcin Łączyński.
The article shows that decisions concerning vaccination are far more complex than a simple division between “supporters” and “opponents” of science. Emotions, personal experiences, and the ways in which people consume information in digital media all play a major role.

“Poles on Social Media Regulations and the Protection of Children Online” - our joint LBM UW and IDMiKS UJ nationwide survey is receiving growing attention in the Polish media.
This demonstrates how socially important the issues of digital safety, online hate, sharenting, minimum age requirements for social media access, and smartphone use in schools have become. The survey results have sparked a broader public debate on the future of the digital environment in Poland.
