Between 11 and 15 of July 2021, the prestigious IAMCR international conference took place under the theme "Rethinking borders and boundaries: Beyond the global/local dichotomy in communication studies". Due to the pandemic, this year's conference was held remotely, which gave participants from all over the world a chance to share observations and conclusions from their research. Two researchers from the Laboratory of Media Studies attended the event, dr Karolina Brylska and prof. Tomasz Gackowski.
Dwa dni – czwartek i piątek – trzeciego tygodnia listopada wpisały się już na stałe w kalendarze badaczy i teoretyków mediów w Polsce. Jak co roku, Laboratorium Badań Medioznawczych UW oraz Magazyn Medioznawcy zapraszają Państwa do udziału w Ogólnopolskiej Konferencji Metodologicznej Medioznawców (#OKMM). Tej jesieni będzie to już XII edycja tego wydarzenia. Tegoroczne spotkanie odbędzie się pod hasłem „Cyfrowe życie po życiu w pandemii: W jaki sposób badać użytkowników mediów?”.
Pierwszego dnia #OKMM (18 listopada) odbędą się warsztaty metodologiczne. W tym roku proponujemy dwie sekcje:
1. Etyczne aspekty badań online
2. Intymność danych. Refleksje z etnograficznego badania praktyk użytkowniczek i użytkowników smartfonów
Ze względu na zagrożenia spowodowane wirusem SARS-CoV-2 proponujemy uczestnictwo w wymiarze stacjonarnym i wirtualnym.
Miło nam również poinformować, że artykuły nadesłane po konferencji zostaną, po uzyskaniu pozytywnych recenzji, opublikowane w wybranym numerze kwartalnika „Studia Medioznawcze” (w jednym z regularnych numerów w 2022 roku). Czasopismo jest indeksowane w bazach: ERIH+, CEJSH, CEEOL, CEEAS, BazEkon i Google Scholar.

A member of the LBM UW team - Anita Kwiatkowska is currently participating in this year's international conference #EPA2021 - The 29th European Congress of Psychiatry.
Anita Kwiatkowska together with prof. Radosław Pawelec, today they present a paper entitled "Focus group interview as a research method in the development of the e-learning in suicide prevention for students in Poland" in a panel devoted to online education in the field of suicide prevention in higher education in Europe.
In a prestigious scientific journal „Political Behavior” (ISSN 1573-6687; Impact Factor 3,169), an article co-authored by prof. Tomasz Gackowski (head of the LBM UW) entitled The (Null) Effects of Happiness on Affective Polarization, Conspiracy Endorsement, and Deep Fake Recognition: Evidence from Five Survey Experiments in Three Countries has been published.
